About Dolphin Swim Program in Lovina

The dolphin swimming program is an exclusive experience found only in Lovina, North Bali. Your journey begins with a scenic boat ride, taking approximately 30 minutes to an hour to reach the dolphins’ natural habitat, located about 3 to 4 miles offshore.

Once we arrive, our captain will carefully assess the area to ensure conditions are perfectly safe for swimming. You will then spend about 1 to 1.5 hours in the water, holding onto a specially provided bar as the boat moves gently, allowing you to swim alongside these playful creatures.

Please note that this activity takes place in the open ocean and requires a bit of courage. Additionally, you will need to climb back onto the boat using a ladder after your swim. We recommend considering your physical comfort with climbing from the water before joining. After the session is complete, we will sail back to the shore, bringing your adventure to a close.

Dolphin Species and Encountering Them in Lovina

Near Lovina, you will primarily encounter two main species: the Spinner Dolphin and the Bottlenose Dolphin. (Rarer sightings may include whale sharks or sperm whales.)

Spinner Dolphin

Spinner dolphins are smaller, incredibly fast swimmers, and love to jump and spin. They are the most common species here, but their speed and shyness make it difficult to get close for a swim. Patience is essential, as they often maintain their distance.

Bottlenose Dolphin

Bottlenose dolphins are larger and generally grey. The pods in this area tend to be tamer and are less afraid of boats and human interaction.
